The book I am reading is called "Gears of War" . This book is very emotional, has a lot of action , and has a bunch of moments that will leave you shocked and will make you want to read more. The main character in this book is Marcus Pheonix who is the leader of the delta force.I know now you are probably saying oh no another fiction book that but has a bunch of violence and blood, But you are wrong yes it is a book about war but it is also a very good book about war and will keep you asking for more.
In this paragraph I will talk about the main character Marcus. Marcus is a leader or commander for the Delta force. Marcus is also very tall, muscular and always looks angry or looks in a bad mood. Marcus is very tough and ignorant when it comes to expressing his feelings and is very hard or stiff when it comes to showing emotion or feeling for someone but you can't blame him he didn't make himself hard and emotionless it was the army I wonder if he will change by the end of the book.
To conclude so far in this book it is very exciting and detailed.I hope I am done with it before my next blog so I can give a summary about it

"Am I Blue" by Bruce Coville
In class I have been reading the short story "Am I Blue " by Bruce Coville .This story is about a young man named Vince who is going through many problems emotionally Vince isn't sure about his sexuality and also is being picked on and bullied because he doesn't know his sexuality and people well Butch Carrigan goes around saying he's gay or makes fun of him.
In this paragraph I'm going to be talking about the main character Vince and his personality personal problems and problems he has with other people.Vince in the story is struggling with this one problem for about a year Vince doesn't know what gender he likes boys or girls or he or to be more specific doesn't know if he is homosexual or not.In the story Vince has many emotions but the one he shows the most is anger since Vince is getting picked on by Butch Carrigan and is too afraid to stand up to him Vince lets his anger out on other people.Vince is also afraid not only of Butch but he is scared to find out if he is homosexual or not.But then towards the end of the story he forgets about his problems and lets things come naturally.\
In the short story Vince has many relationships with other characters some good some bad. One important relationship Vince has in the story is with the character in the story named Melvin who is his fairy god-father.Melvin has been a big help to Vince Melvin can relate to what Vince is going through because he was homosexual and was bullied or totured by men that didnt like gays.Another relationship in the story is between Vince and Butch Carrigan.
To conclude I think the story "Am I Blue" by Bruce Coville is a good example of how people are different and how you shouldn't tease people for being different you should appreciate them.I think this short story is a good example of stories that send messages and teach lessons.

"The Drummer boy of Shiloh" by Ray Bradbury
In the short story "The Drummer boy of Shiloh" by Ray Bradbury, a boy named Joby runs away from home following the the army with nothing but his drum. Throughout the story Joby learns how hard and scary the outside of his home and how uncomfortable it is.
In the story Joby at is very shy and self conscious and has a very low self-esteem he thinks about a lot of things and has many internal problems. One example of these problems is in one part part of the story where Joby is sitting alone in the dark and he starts thinking about how he can't fight in the war and he says "I only got a drum, two sticks to beat it and no shield".At this moment Joby started to regret running away I thought he was going to go back home and I was surprised when he didn't but i thinks its important lesson.
Now in the short story Joby is still following the soldiers but then as it gets dark he shifts away and sits down and starts to close his eyes and play his drum but then he hears a noise and panics he closes his eyes and tries to hide but when he opens them he see's this man standing infront of him. Joby then realizes the man is the General the General then starts to talk to Joby and makes him very scared but Joby does not know that the general is just expressing himself . Soon the general gives Joby a speech and boosts his confidence and makes Joby believe in himself and Joby feels like he is capable of fighting the war . I think this was a very important part of the story because it was very heart touching and motivating and taught us lesson of how to never bring people down.
